Yes you can have an MRI done safely and effectively with no serious side effects or diagnostic problems. You should inform the physician performing the MRI that you have permanent cosmetics. Some pigments contain iron oxide; this metallic substance can interfere with the electromagnetic fields used in MRI procedures causing a minor discomfort. However, permanent make up has such a low amount of iron oxide that the possibility of a diagnostic problem is scarce.
